Angels of the baelite faith, lamassu are among the few angelic orders who ever come permanently to earth.

Pairs of lamassu are known to watch the gates of highest temples and holy relics, making them just about the only angels that are easy to find. They rarely speak, and their few words are often cryptic, but an angel's word is still gospel so hundreds of priest have, at times, worked on a single sentence to extract its true meaning. Sometimes it works, sometimes not, the index of unsolved utterances is long.

The vibrance of their wings is used to gauge purity of pigments, since nothing on earth can ever be quite as blue. If one convinces a lamassu to give up one of its feathers, it can be used to write down sacred covenants, or worn as an amulet to ward off evil beings.
